The Blacksmiths is a family owned gastro pub nestled in the picturesque village of Clayworth, situated along the Chesterfield Canal.
After a huge renovation in 2012 incorporating Will and Leah’s previous life and love of the mountains, The Blacksmiths was renovated into what is now a delightful country gastro pub with a hint of the Swiss mountains, whilst retaining its original character. The long oak bar, leather chairs, real fires and the odd cow bell and pair of skis, creates an ambience of ruddy, après ski ‘bonhomie’ gives you a welcoming glow inside, offering somewhere to relax.
Will and Leah’s vision from the start has been ‘farm to fork’, the ethos of The Blacksmiths. Care and effort is put into sourcing the best, from the beer pulled behind the bar to the foraged fruits along the canal and use of fresh seasonal produce from the local farming community; vegetables, fruit, game, locally reared lamb/pork/beef/poultry all helping to reduce the carbon footprint.
The setting is perfect, whether it’s for a quiet drink after work or having a party in the ‘The Oak Room’ which is accessed via the amazing helical staircase, and offers a private dining area overlooking the far reaching views of the beautiful countryside – perfect on a summer’s day with the doors open, sitting on the balcony. Outside you will discover the ‘walled garden’, which has been delightfully designed with the odd ‘quirk’ to offer stylish, alfresco dining. When the nights close in, retreat inside to relax in front of the roaring fires and comfortable leather sofas.
So if it’s for food or just drinks we look forward to seeing you in the Blacksmiths. If you have any other queries or would like to make a booking please click here to get in touch, or call us on 01777 818171.
Will and Leah warmly welcome you, and hope you enjoy the Blacksmiths as much as they do.
